Over 67 Nigerians were killed in mosque and marketplace attacks during October and November. Many were killed in an explosion that ripped through a newly built mosque in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State, as worshipers were getting ready for Friday afternoon prayers. Eighteen Nigerians died in a blast at a mosque in Maiduguri two hours earlier.
A month later, a suicide bomber exploded, killing thirty-four Nigerians, as truckers were having dinner in the marketplace in Yola. Two more suicide bombers killed at least fifteen people in Kano.
