7:30 – 9:00           FON Board Meeting, open to all

Friday, 8/4/17    Holiday Inn Cherry Creek (all day)

6:30 – 8:30           Breakfast buffet for those staying at Holiday Inn

8:30 – 9:00           Coffee, socializing

9:00 – 9:15           Elect FON Board Members, report from board on key activities 2016 – 2017

9:15 – 9:30           Queen Obasi, report on our contribution to African Community Health Initiative

9:30 – 9:50           Long term, what is FON going to do?  What will our legacy be?  To whom should we pass it on?

9:50 – 10:00        Glenn Blumhorst, President NPCA, Latest from NPCA

10:00                     FON Board Meeting to elect officers.  Open to all

10:00 – 10:30      Meeting break, socializing

10:30 – 11:00      Dr. Austin Okigbo, ethnomusicologist

11:00 – 11:30      Okey Ndibe, Author, expert on current Nigerian authors

11:30 - Noon      Josh Arinze, Journalist, commentary on current Nigerian events               

12:00 – 12:15      Spence Ralston, The Nigeria population time bomb

12:15 – 1:30        Luncheon, socializing

1:30 – 2:00           Abdullahi Edward Tomasiewicz via Skype: what’s happening in Nigeria

2:00 - 2:15            Mini-break, socializing

Group 3, led by Okey Ndibe: Okey Ndibe  Foreign Gods, Inc (2014), Arrows of Rain, (2015), Chigozie Obioma  The Fisherman (2015)

Group 4, led by FON Board Members What is the long range strategy for FON?  Should we merge with Nigerian American groups? Should we facilitate students getting in touch with Peace Corps teachers?  What will our legacy be?

5:30 – 6:00           Break before dinner       You are On Your Own - no travelling to anywhere offsite.

6:00 – 8:00           African meal.  Ideally some Star.  Serious socializing.
